LEDs will save and ruin us

How many freakin LEDs do I need on things? Here's a little test - just before you go to bed and you've turned off all the lights in your house, walk around and see how many LEDs there are. If you wait long enough, your eyes will adjust and you won't need to turn on lights to get around. The LEDs in our smoke detectors are so bright that they cast a shadow on the floor if you stick your hand. We taped over the LED on the one in our bedroom, but even through TWO layers of white electrical tape you can still see the LED. Even our dishwasher has a display on it. I find several features nice but frustrating on that item; but that's another post. LEDs last much, much longer than conventional light bulbs, generate less heat, and (these days) are just as bright as normal bulbs. Au revoir filament and compact florescent bulbs - your days are numbered.
