What happened to brown paper bags?

Wasn't there a trend a few years back to switch to non-bleached paper bags for everything? The grocery stores use them, but fast food restaurants apparently "need" to deliver your food in a white sack. So people griped at McDonald's and they caved. . . for a while. Now everybody is back to white bags. Was the process improved or did everybody just forget about the 'badness'? Frankly I couldn't care less what the bag looks like. Hey Arby's, McDonald's, Burger King, etc.. .. .We, the American Public, don't care what the bag looks like. Save us all some money and just throw the food in a sack just like the brown paper bags in which we used to take our PB&J's to school.
